Fine Art Friday, January Edition | Greensboro Photographer

One of the challenges of doing something artistic for a living is that it is easy to forget to follow your passion, or do something that is totally for you utilizing your favorite pastime.   For myself, I get so caught up in delivering images that clients ask for that I set aside my wishes to do something creative just for me.  Well, recently a group of us on 4 the Love of Focus (4TLOF) a forum for professional women photographers, were discussing how we were inspired by Nichole Van and a group she had put together called Fine Art Photography.  One of the ladies on our forum thought it would be fun if we did something like that so here we are!  I’m excited about it because even though photography is an artform whether you do it commercially, photograph weddings or portraits, etc, it’s still fun to let your creative juices flow and do something that is a little outside the box.  Once a month, we’ll all be posting a picture for Fine Art Friday and will include a link to the next person in our group who is participating.  This month, I’m linking you to Jenn Duguay, Valleyview, Alberta Photographer so be sure to check her out and see her take on Fine Art Friday!!

Here is my image for this month.  When I was in school and took art classes, one of my favorite things to draw was still lifes.  I loved trying to capture something meaningful from the assortment of things my teacher had chosen for us to draw that day.  So my image this month is based on that with a singular item in focus.  It was a lot of fun to take this image and then play with it in photoshop until it achieved the feeling I was going for!!

[...] here is my photo for the january edition of fine art friday.  i’m currently in the throws of co-chairing the mid-winter ball for the self regional healthcare foundation and this year’s theme is “a seaside soiree”.  as hard as i may try, i just can’t seem to get all things beachy out of my head.  so i found it only fitting that i photograph this beautiful sea shell that i discovered while diving in turks and caicos last summer.  it wasn’t nearly this beautiful when i saw it on the ocean floor…but after many cleaning treatments, it’s full beauty has been restored.  i hope you enjoy it.  and don’t forget to click on through the blog circle to see what others have envisioned as fine art.  you can start by checking out Evie Curley Greensboro NC Child and Family Photographer.
