You ever have a moment where, you hoped something turned out as well as you thought it did? That is what happened to me with my most recent session. On Labor Day weekend, I met up with a family at a beautiful location in Durham, NC called, West Point on the Eno. It’s an amazing park full of lush trees, old clapboard sided homes and buildings, plus a place where you can rent canoes and go out on the water. Truly a stunning location. Add to the mix a couple very much in love with each other and their adorable daughter and you have a recipe for a fabulous photo session. For whatever reason, the clients who come to me don’t usually have daughters. Not sure why that is but, can I just tell you how much I LOVED photographing this little girl? She was spunky, incredibly intelligent, and just lovely. She had a stuffed animal with the best. name. EVAH. Gigi Butterscotch. I’m sorry but that is hands down the best name I’ve ever heard. And she’s only 4 folks.

Anyway, we had a blast at this session and I couldn’t wait to come home and download all the images so I could see them!  Unfortunately, I HAD to wait.  My family had an event to attend that afternoon and the minute I got home from the photo session we had to turn around and run out to a surprise party for one of my husband’s oldest friends.  We had a great time but every once in a while my mind would drift off and wonder what the images from the morning’s session were like.  We stayed at the party late into the night so the images would have to wait until the next day.  And they were so worth the wait!  When they popped up on my screen, I was so excited and spent the next few days editing them.  This is one of my favorite sessions to date and I hope you like them, too.

Without further adieu, please allow me to introduce you to Miss “F” and her friend, Gigi Butterscotch.

When I decided to offer these lunchboxes, I had no appreciation for exactly how in love I was going to be with mine when it came in.  Oh.  My.  Word!  My boys are just too big for this kind of thing but you’d better believe, had something like this been available when they were younger, I totally would have gotten them one!!  Take a look at these pics of the sample I just got in.  CUTENESS!!!!

Well, not me.  On Thursday I had the great fortune to work with some of my favorite clients.  Jen’s husband had purchased this session for her as a Mother’s Day gift and we had been trying to find the right time and place to do it.  When Jen mentioned that she wanted to have the pictures taken in a setting with flowers, I knew immediately that Tanger Bicentennial Gardens in Greensboro is where we would be heading.

Lately, the weather here has been sweltering so Jen and her daughter, Miss A met me at the park early in the morning to avoid this humid wave that seems to keep crashing over our city.  It was a beautiful sunny day and they were wearing outfits that were to DIE FOR they were so cute!!  I don’t usually go for matchy-matchy but Jen did this just right.  So chic and stylish!!  Here is my favorite image from their session and I think you’ll agree it totally captures the love shared between this Mom and daughter.  How precious will this be when Miss A. is a grown woman?!  She will love having this!

Recently, my nephew was christened. The ceremony was held in a beautiful church here in Greensboro, Our Lady of Grace. It is a gorgeous place! And the light in there, while a bit dark, really was quite beautiful. My sister of course, wanted pictures from this very special occasion so I brought along my camera in order to capture this for them. What’s interesting is which image from the whole set is my favorite. While my nephew looked totally adorable in his little while suit that had been worn by his father and uncles before him, my favorite moment came when my husband nudged me and signaled for me to look to my right. This is what I saw:

My grandfather is 91 years old and we are so privileged to have him still be able to get around and attend these milestones with us, even if he does take a little nap from time-to-time. Years from now, we’ll be able to look at this picture and smile. Remembering how special it was to have him there, how peaceful he looked as he dozed during the service. This is why I do what I do. So you will be able to look through your photos and your albums and feel thankful to have captured a moment in time. That’s exactly what it’s about. Moments like these that are fleeting. Even if you don’t ever have a professional photograph taken in your life, be sure to just take your camera with you everywhere and capture the people you love so you always have them with you. :)
